These cool amps are rare as the proverbial rocking horse droppings. It's a 1965 vintage Goldentone Bassmaster 'fliptop', where the head flips and stores inside the cabinet for transporting, just like the Ampeg amps which no doubt inspired Goldentone.

This is an extremely original example, still sporting its pair of desirable Rola 12PEG alnico 12" speakers. The original 8-pin connector in the speaker box has been removed, and a standard 1/4" jack installed, but as this amp had no reverb, it functions normally. Goldentones had the reverb springs in the speaker box rather than the head, and the multi-pin connector was necessary to connect the send, return and earth of the reverb tank, plus the 2 connectors to the speaker.

The tolex has been re-painted in black by a previous owner, but as the job is quite well done, and the tolex was black originally, I've decided to leave it rather than waste countless, messy hours painstakingly removing the paint as I have done with some blonde-tolex amps in the past.

This is an very ballsy and toneful 40-watter, much healthier, louder and 'fatter' than almost any other Goldentone to arrive at Grouse Guitars. As such, I'll be leaving it as-is, rather than increase the cost by getting a service done. Valves are obviously healthy, and the amp runs cool and virtually hum-free. These amps run a pair of 6DQ6A valves in the output.

When 'flipped' ready for transport, the amp measures 75cm(W) x 67cm(H) x 31cm(D), and weighs 30kg. Shipped sizes and weight will be slightly higher.
