Here is a guitar I have wanted since the late 1970s, when I met Gerard Gilet when he attended one of many parties held in the huge house in inner Sydney (Warrenball Avenue, Newtown) I shared with other students at the time. Ah, those WERE the days!
I subsequently met Gerard on several occasions, and discussed the possibility of having a Telecaster made by him. However, I couldn't afford one then, and these days Gerard no longer makes electric guitars, having chosen to concentrate exclusively on the highly-regarded Gilet acoustic guitar line for wich he so well known.
This Telecaster® was custom-made for a customer who has purchased several guitars (mainly acoustics, but they also included the Strat® I now treasure) from Gerard over the years. It has a beautiful 2-piece Southern Swamp Ash body (just like Leo used back in the'40s and '50s) and a beautiful Flame Maple neck with separate Flame Maple fretboard. The neck is a later replacement made by Gerard Gilet after the original was broken in a freak mishap (always unplug your guitars when not using them!!), and boasts a bone nut and abalone position markers.
Pickups are Kinman Broadcaster® pickups (awesome!), and the guitar has Graphtek saddles and Sperzel locking tuners for solid intonation and tuning, and nice quick string changes.
Of course, the guitar is beautifully finished in Nitrocellulose lacquer.
Needless to say, I do not have this guitar for sale. This is the best Tele® I have ever owned, and that includes some real corkers!
